The Provincial of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary, India North, Antoinette Araujo, resides at The Provincial House, Premankur, St. Pius College Campus, Goregaon East, Mumbai, 400063. It was inaugurated on 21st. November 1993
The formation centre for novices is situated in the Provincial House. It provides a healthy and friendly atmosphere for the candidates who are in training. The present Novice Mistress is Sr Mariamma Kuruvilla.
The Postulancy provides a first test of vocation. It leads the postulant to be more clearly aware of the divine call and to attain sufficient emotional, natural and spiritual maturity to be able to answer this call freely and with a sense of responsibility.
The Postulancy lasts from six months to two years. In certain cases, the Provincial may be asked for a prolongation of one year.
• Education: Std XII or equivalent
• Age: minimum age required is 18 years
• Health Status: good physical and mental health.
During the stage of the postulancy the postulant comes in contact with life in community which serves as an undoubted exemplary value for her.
The postulant acquires a general knowledge of the essential demands of religious life and those of the Society.
After the successful completion of the Postulancy the postulants join the novitiate.
The novitiate is the stage of the religious life which prepares the novice to take her definitive decision conscientiously and freely. It is a time above all when she develops her life of prayer which enables her to discern more clearly the demands of her vocation.
The particular form of the Society does not necessitate that all the novices should go to the General or Provincial novitiates. The Superiors of the reunions to which they belong will provide for their formation either personally or by a local mistress of novices.
The novitiate lasts for two years. The provincial can allow a prolongation of up to two years at the most.
3. Ongoing Formation Programmes for the DHM in service, in the Province are conducted at Premankur. Provincial Assemblies and Council meetings are also held on the premises.
