The Bombay Catholic Sabha, held its Annual SABHA DAY on 23rd February 2020, at St. Pauls High School grounds, which was attended by 650 members across Mumbai. BCS Unit of St. Thomas Goregaon east, has been declared winner of “ Star Award “ in Borivali Deanery and a Trophy was collected by our Unit members. We secured 67 points for our Activities in Medical, Social, Civic and participation in Political Awareness programmes. We were judged on the basis of quarterly activity reports and on Annual Activities conducted during the year 2019-20.
The Citation read at the Sabha Day mentioned the Activities we conducted at the Unit.
Medical check-up and dispensing of medicines for the underprivileged of all faiths, stopped encroachment near garden area nearSt. Thomas Church side entrance, complained to BMC & Fire brigade regarding fire-blast in a small scale industry behind Church colony and got the problem rectified, conducted Academic Awards for students of SSC, HSC, Graduates and awarded prizes, felicitated elected MP , Shri Gajanan Kirtikar SS, at his office along with BCS members , emergency help rendered to St. Judes Church – malad east, coordinating team where a wall had collapsed on the chawls of residents. Our members participated in protest march of “ SAVE AAREY “ campaign at Goregaon and Bandra MMRDA office, organized a seminar on “ Wills & Succession “ for the benefit of senior citizens of our parish, organized a training programme on “ Positivity “ for BCS members. Participated in protest against CAA, NPC & NRC at Azad maidan, Marathi Patrakar Bhavan and seminars across Mumbai.
Our members attended “ Environment Programmes “ conducted by BCS HO and Green Cell, St. Michaels Church Mahim. Our member completed a training programme on “ Eco- Ambassador” course conducted by the Office of Environment of the Archdiocese. Our member has been coordinating with BMC , P/South ward for resolving Civic issues.
We thank our Spiritual Director Fr Constancio Noronha for all the help rendered to conduct the programmes in the school basement and necessary announcements so that we could conduct the Activities. We request the community members to participate in the future programmes of BCS.
